Too often with Interior Decorating, along with Feng Shui, people worry that they are doing it wrong. I come across rooms that feel sterile, rooms that don't reflect the people that use them. People try to copy a design trend, only to feel that "something is missing", or "doesn't feel right".
Let's address the last item first. It's great to get inspiration from current trends, designers, HGTV, magazines, ect. The key word is inspiration. Use all of these avenues to find what "speaks" to you. Use this as a tool, but, don't forget to personalize it. Make it your own.
In Feng Shui, we believe that your home is a direct reflection of you. What does your home tell others about you?
Don't be afraid to choose a color or an item just because you like it - even if it's not "on trend".
With Feng Shui, there are tons and tons of books, and online resources. There are just as many interpretations and schools to adapt Feng Shui. This often leads people to feel confused, convinced that they did something wrong, or that their home is wrong.
If you like it, it's not wrong. There is always a remedy that can be applied to enhance a space that may need Feng Shui help. Most important - don't box yourself in with Right and Wrong thoughts. Instead, consider how an area may be improved or enhanced.
