Defining Feng Shui

What is Feng Shui? 

The literal translation is Wind Water. 

Wind cannot be seen, but it's effects can.  For instance, you can see the leaves rustling on a tree as the wind blows, you can feel the wind on your face, you can see the waves form as the wind blows across the water.  Water is ever changing, and ever moving.

Wind represents the Unseen, and Water represents the Seen.  Both are major topics in Feng Shui.  It is thought that our environment is a physical representation of our inner world.  A chaotic environment reveals a inner chaos.  An orderly environment reveals an orderly mind.

Feng Shui shows us how to achieve balance and harmony by understanding this connection of the Seen and the Unseen.  The chi energy that flows in all things, that enriches and nourishes, can be harnessed to create a healthy balance - the Wind Water connection.

Feng Shui is a way in, a "mirror into the soul".  To understand oneself, to grow, and live an enriched life, is to live a life in balance and harmony with ourselves and our environment.
