Stay Afloat  -  Blog

One of my favorite things about Feng Shui is the revelation that happens by understanding the connection between our physical world and our inner world.  The ability to harness this connection for our own intentions definitely gives us a power over our lives.

As our lives continue to change, we can adapt our spaces to support us.

People live stressful, busy lives.  This leads to not enough "me" time.  If we don't dedicate time for our own personal chi, we increase the likelihood of sickness, depression, and that feeling of "something is missing".
Taking time to enhance your own personal chi isn't always a priority - however, the benefits should make it worth it.

SLEEP.

Such an easy thing, yet most people are sleep deprived.

Feng Shui tips to help you sleep:
  • No TV.  I know, this is an area of resistance for people.  If you aren't willing to remove your TV, at a minimum cover it up.  TV is a distraction that keeps us awake.
  • Soothing colors.  Think calm, peaceful, soothing colors.  We don't want vibrant awake colors.
  • A solid headboard.  You want to feel "protected" as you sleep.
  • Remove clutter.  Those items that surround your bed can serve as reminders of things that need to be done, little "waking" subliminal messages that keep you from sleeping.
Physical Activity.

There are different activities that help move the chi in your body, eliminating stagnant chi, and promote healthy chi.  Some examples of this are:
  • Yoga
  • Tai Chi
  • Acupuncture
  • Meditation

Separate work from home life.

This is particularly important if you work from home.  Don't let your work migrate into your family and friends space.

If you have a dedicated office, great - close it off when you are finished.  If you do not have a dedicated office space, carve out a space for work, just not in the bedroom.

Let nature heal you.

A walk outdoors can instantly lift your personal chi.  Better yet, use this time to meditate or reflect.

Get creative.

When was the last time you did something creative?  Creativity is good for the soul.  Whatever your creative outlet, your personal chi will benefit!
